5 HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE STAR WARS REBELS SEASON FOUR TRAILER

We’ve got a new look at Star Wars Rebels’ final season in the form of a spectacular trailer. It’s a densely-packed three minutes, providing a pretty good idea of the tone we can expect as the story of Rebels comes to a close. There’s Mandalorian action, Rukh taking on Hera, and some Big Wolves. But five things in particular stand out and have me pondering what’s in store for the Ghost crew.

1. Lock S-foils in attack position.

It was good to see those X-wings drop out of hyperspace in the first trailer. It was GREAT to see them split into their iconic configuration and dive in to take on the Empire.

2. Kanera.

For my credits, Kanan and Hera have the most well-crafted romantic relationship in the entire Star Wars saga. It’s built upon a deep and abiding friendship that’s forged a trust and understanding greater than any other couple in the galaxy. To see it moved forward so openly in this trailer makes me smile and dare to hope that there are good times ahead for this pair of Rebels.

3. Defending against Stardust.

Orson Krennic may not have been the nicest man, but you’ve got to give him points for his persistence. Grand Admiral Thrawn’s pet project has been spotlighted in several Rebels episodes so far, and in this trailer it looks like it may be in danger of being eclipsed by Director Krennic’s larger aspiration.

4. How you choose to fight.

One of my favorite things about Rebels has been its exploration of what Star Wars means. Sure, laser swords and blasters and explosions are cool, but without any substance behind it all, is there even a point? That Ezra and Kanan are asking themselves deeper questions about the fight they face and what it means for them is amazing. Looks like someone learned the lesson of the Clone Wars well.

5. Return to Lothal.

Ezra’s never forgotten where he comes from or what his parents died for. In many ways, Rebels has always been the story of a boy fighting to save his world. And this trailer makes it clear that Lothal is still very much so the priority for Ezra. After that final shot, I hope he’s not too late.
