DESIGNING SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, PART 3: PULLING OFF THE TRAIN HEIST

In the name of research, James Clyne strapped on some virtual goggles and took a flying leap off a scaled model of a speeding train. Lucasfilm’s design supervisor for Solo: A Star Wars Story had designed the conveyex for a heist sequence in the new film, which called for characters to jump from car to car. But when one of the other creators questioned if the gap between segments was too wide to be able to work for the scene, Clyne decided to test the theory himself. Using Lucasfilm’s Virtual Scout technology, typically employed by designers who merely want to take a stroll around a life-size CG model of their creation, Clyne uploaded a model of the train and virtually climbed aboard. “You put the googles on and you’re standing on a train car 60 feet up,” Clyne says. The gear was set up in a relatively small office space. “Could I run and try to jump?” he recalls asking. “They were like, ‘Well, we’ve never done that. We usually just have people slowly walking around the room.’” Cl

10 ICONIC HAN SOLO QUOTES

He’s arrogant. He’s an underdog. Maybe he’s even a bit scruffy-lookin’ on occasion. But there’s a lot more to Han Solo than just his reputation as a scoundrel who, by his own admission, is motivated by the promise of a good payday. In fact, time and again Solo has proven himself to be an invaluable asset to the rebels fighting for a better galaxy. Whether he likes it or not, Han’s a hero with a heart, and the lives he touches throughout the classic Star Wars trilogy — as well as The Force Awakens — are enriched and strengthened by his brash charm. In this new series for StarWars.com, I’ll be taking another look at my favorite lines in the saga with a focus on individual characters. And since Solo: A Star Wars Story lands in theaters next week on May 25 — which we’re sure will bring many great new Han quotes to the Star Wars lexicon — we’re starting things off with Captain Solo himself. 1. “It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs! I’ve outrun Imperial st

RON HOWARD DISCUSSES THE FORCES THAT SHAPE HAN IN SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY ON THE STAR WARS SHOW

Han Solo has been a fan favorite since we first met him and his walking carpet of a copilot inside the wretched hive that is the Mos Eisley cantina.  And when Director Ron  swtor credits   Howard takes us back to Solo’s earlier days in Solo: A Star Wars Story later this month, he promises to examine some the scoundrel’s multifaceted personality and explore what — and who — shaped him into the hero we already know and love. This week on The Star Wars Show, Howard sits down to talk about Han’s enduring appeal, which all comes down to the character’s  swtor credits   duality. “He’s a great guy and he hates that about himself!” Howard says. “The idea that he’s out for himself, he’s got an outlaw spirit and code on one hand, but he can’t quite live it and walk it (because) he doesn’t entirely feel it.” Bonus: The good-natured director didn’t just talk business while he was here. Check out the video below to see  swtor credits  Howard as he tries his luck playing our original game “

CHARLES SOULE ON THE RESISTANCE’S BEST PILOT AND WHAT’S NEXT IN MARVEL’S POE DAMERON

For the entire run of Charles Soule’s Poe Dameron comic book series, readers have gotten the chance to experience the wit, bravery, and unselfish nature of the best pilot in the Resistance. We also have been introduced to Black Squadron, a muscular Hutt, and a compelling new villain. With a new storyline coming this May, StarWars.com e-mailed with Soule about what makes Poe Dameron unique, his Black Squadron copilots, and why Agent Terex is the perfect foil for the titular character. StarWars.com: Ever since fans were introduced to the characters in The Force Awakens, people have been drawn to Poe Dameron.  swtor credis   What is it about the character that you find so compelling, and how do you channel that into the Poe Dameron series? Charles Soule: I won’t lie — writing a swashbuckling expert pilot with charisma for miles won’t ever be a drag. Poe the character brings an energy to his scenes that’s pretty undeniable, like a feedback loop of fun and focus. Now, I know I

HAN AND CHEWIE GET INTO SOME BOUNTY HUNTER TROUBLE – THANKS TO SANA STARROS – IN THIS LAST SHOT EXCERPT

Han Solo and Sana Starros have…a bit of a bumpy history, to put it lightly. Sana debuted in the pages of Marvel’s Star Wars comic, shortly after the destruction of the first Death Star, trying to track down our favorite scoundrel and claiming to be his wife — which she was and wasn’t. (It’s complicated.) And now, in Daniel José Older’s Last Shot novel — coming April 17 and available for pre-order — she’s back. In StarWars.com’s exclusive excerpt set before A New Hope, Han, Chewie, and Sana find themselves in Maz’s castle…battling some very upset bounty hunters. Update: You can listen to the audiobook version of this excerpt, read by Daniel José Older himself, via the player below! Han was on the floor before he’d realized he’d jumped for cover. Above him, Maz dished out rushed

IN STAR WARS REBELS, MAUL’S INFLUENCE SHOWED EZRA BRIDGER THE DARK SIDE

After coming back from near-death many times, Maul became a bitter castoff of the Sith, forced to fend for himself years after his abandonment by Darth Sidious. With Star Wars Rebels coming to an end on Monday, March 5 at 8:30 p.m. EDT on Disney XD, it’s important to remember that Maul’s influence was a major stepping stone along Ezra Bridger’s Jedi journey. Ezra’s brief time at Maul’s side reveals the young Jedi’s vulnerabilities, giving him a greater understanding of where he falls on the spectrum between light and dark. Their partnership is a story born from the era in which it is set: the dark times, when the Jedi are floundering without structure and the powers of the dark side influence our rebel heroes in mysterious and world-shattering ways. Ezra is looking for answers, and Maul identifies Ezra’s inexperience in order to use him to further the former Sith’s own ends. Maul teaches Ezra about the trust required between a teacher and an apprentice, but because those teachings

REBELS REVISITED: 5 ESSENTIAL SABINE WREN EPISODE

Looking for a way to introduce Star Wars Rebels to your friends? Or perhaps you’d like to revisit key moments from the series before it returns? Look no further than Rebels Revisited. Over the next four weeks, we’ll be providing five episodes worthy of a re-watch (or a first watch) all centered around the journey of one member of the Ghost crew — to get   swtor credits  you back into that Rebels state of mind. In case you missed it, check out the first post on Ezra Bridger. In this installment… Sabine Wren, whose art helped accelerate the spark of rebellion across the galaxy and whose heart helped her to overcome a difficult past. Sabine has become the very model of a modern Mandalorian over four seasons of Star Wars Rebels, and these episodes depict her growth beautifully. 1. “Blood Sisters” (Season 2, Episode 8) Sabine’s murky past begins to clear up when she encounters her old friend Ketsu Onyo. They soon find themselves on opposite sides when Sabine discovers t

6 HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE STAR WARS REBELS MID-SEASON FOUR TRAILE

Our first glance at the last we’ll see of Star Wars Rebels has arrived. The stakes have never been higher, and the fight has never been as perilous. But the Ghost crew has never been more united. And this trailer balances those growing stakes with their determination to fight the Empire. There are moments of despair, revelation, and hope. These are the six that stood out to me. 1. Ezra’s journey. More than anything else, Rebels has been the story of Ezra Bridger. And this trailer does a fantastic job of grounding you in his story before offering visions of his future. From his first steps into the larger world of the Force, to his (thankfully) brief dark side temptation, to his growing beyond himself to befriend clones, Loth-cats, and others throughout his travels, the opening to this trailer makes me thankful for such a fantastic Star Wars character, and  swtor credits   excited for what’s to come. 2. My Emperor. My Imperial heart leapt for joy when th

STAR WARS: BEST OF 2017

For Star Wars, this was a year of new experiments, the release of highly-anticipated sequels, and a few surprises. And porgs, of course. In this special feature, the writers of StarWars.com look back on highlights from throughout 2017. Star Wars Rebels Ups the Stakes and Barrels Toward Its Conclusion Between the second half of Season Three and the beginning of Season Four, Star Wars Rebels gave fans some incredible moments. I laughed, I cried, I yelled at executive producer Dave Filoni several times. We saw characters introduced in 2016, like Thrawn and Saw Gererra, become more defined and more terrifying. Thrawn’s domination and eventual defeat of the rebels have brought us to Yavin and closer to the events of Rogue One. Sabine helped put the Darksaber into the hands of Bo-Katan Kryze and give Mandalore its first real leader in years. To the delight of fans (and, of course, myself), 2017 also saw the first on-screen kiss between Hera and Kanan. You could practically hear
