The Force Awakens Designers Talk BB-8 Empire Magazine shared yet another interesting story from the pages of their latest isue due to release tomorrow August 27. This time The Force Awakens designers talk BB-8 and how they managed to create such unique character…       From EmpireOnline: The droid began life as a quick Abrams sketch. “J.J. wanted something rolling on a sphere,” so I tried a lot of different designs developing that idea,” Concept Designer Christian Alzmann tells Lucasfilm’s Dan Brooks. “He would give direction on the kinds of shapes to use, and that led to a personality for the droid.”   Various BB-8s were created for shooting to perform different functions: one for close-ups; a couple with stabilizer wheels; one that could be picked up and interacted with by actors; one that could be thrown into shot without tipping over; and even an old-school rod-puppet version. But while a single fully-functioning, all-purpose BB-8 remained impractical

DICE sheds light into EA’s (and BioWare’s) PR and Marketing Practices EA’s/Dice’s new Star Wars: Battlefront game is currently in a similar situation PR-wise and marketing wise as EA’s/BioWare’s Knights of the Fallen Empire. There isn’t much information about either game from official sources except for a few bits of information here and there. For KOTFE, it’s the story aspect and for Battlefront it’s the authenticity of the graphics. Both of the games are just a few months away from their release. KOTFE is expected at the end of October and Battlefront is expected in the middle of November. After the exciting event of D23, where the only new information about Battlefront was the nine different game modes, DICE said that the following articles explained their marketing principal and explained to the community why there was not much information. This is likely the same for BioWare. Game developers are not typically very secretive when it comes to general game development

GALAXY WIRE: STAR WARS NEWS FROM AROUND THE WEB Galaxy Wire is a selection of the StarWars.com team’s favorite activity relating to Jedi, Sith, and the power of the Force on the Internet. From Star Wars: The Force Awakens tidbits to photos of dogs dressed like Ewoks, you’ll find it all here. Thankfully, no Bothans died to get us this information. Star W ars emoji-making is the most complicated art form in the univeres Wired magazine has shown the world a lot of cool things over the years, so it’s fitting that they’re providing a closer look on how a Star Wars emoji is created: taking a simple screenshot, dressing it with a mustache or a mullet, configuring the shape to look less like Pac-Man and then tweaking every smile, frown, or snarl to capture the true essence of the character. Even the lightsabers have attitude. Imperial “special forces” march across the Golden Gate Bridge A battalion of stormtroopers escorted longtime Star Wars fan Kevin Doyle acr

President of Lucasfilm Talks Han Solo Movie Are you worried about the upcoming Han Solo spinoff that is planned as a standalone film? Many fans are concerned that they will ruin one of the best characters from Star Wars ever. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talked a great deal about the spinoff (still untitled) and what we can expect. It’s written by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and scheduled for release May 25, 2018. So we have quite awhile to wait for it but that doesn’t stop people from being interested in it. A big question from the start is in regards to the timeline. How old will Solo be in this film? “He’ll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s,” Kennedy said to the magazine. “We’re not introducing you to a 10-year-old Han Solo.” That does make sense and we’ll have to wait awhile to know who is playing the role but Kennedy did offer some other info and insight

Heroes of the Storm now has a Duck Hunt Easter egg Heroes of the Storm 's  latest patch  brought a new Easter egg into the game, and this one allows you to play  Duck Hunt  on the main menu screen, reports  HeroesNexus . You can initiate the Easter egg by clicking on the trees on the screen. Once the flying duck appears, you've only got five shots to hit it. If you miss, the "dog" — which, in this case, appears to be a  Treasure Goblin  from  Diablo 3  — will pop up and laugh at your incompetence. The hunting minigame even includes  Duck Hunt -appropriate 8-bit sound effects. HeroesNexus recorded footage of the Easter egg; you can watch it above. Why Murky Is My Favorite  Heroes Of The Storm  Character If MOBA players had meetings similar to the AA, I could imagine people introducing themselves by saying, “Hi, I’m PufferMan388, I’m a toxic mid main, and I hate the cancer fish known as Fizz.” Or perhaps, “I’m DrunkmasterDave, I live in top lane, and I am on a crusade to take down the satanic menace known as Teemo.” The following is my opening statement as a MOBA player. I don’t harbor a deep-seated resentment towards any particular MOBA character. In fact, I’ve found a character that I truly identify with and enjoy playing as while I binge on  Heroes of the Storm  at two in the morning. His name is Murky, one of the best things to happen to me as a MOBA player. For those of you unfamiliar with Murky, here’s a bit of Murky’s context and background. Murky is a “ Murloc ”, an amphibious frog-like creature that carries a fish and slaps people in the face with it until they pass out. Think of Monty Python’s “Fish

Star Wars: Battlefront Supremacy Revealed The different multiplayer modes of Star Wars: Battlefront have many different types of experiences for players to enjoy. Everything from close-quarter battles to huge clashes on large maps, the Supremacy mode fits into the latter category. The Supremacy mode centers on five different control points that are scattered throughout the map. The player’s objective is to gain control of all five of the points, or most of them, before the 10 minutes are over. Every team will start the match controlling two of the points and then they will then have to fight for the last one in the center. After this has been done, the control points will need to be claimed in a certain order. Supremacy mode is a hardcore mode that is for players who know their way around the battlefront and for those who are craving mad action. Lead Level Designer Dennis Brannvall states that the action will be intense.  “When you spawn into Supremacy, you d
