Square Enix Stops Sales of FFXIV: ARR to Expand Servers

Having trouble logging into Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Countless players have been unable to log in to the game due to the fact that the game’s servers are way over capacity. FFXIV: ARR has done so well upon launch that the demand has surpassed what Square Enix, the developer of the game, expected.
FFXIV ARR Sales Halted
In an official announcement SE stated that they will be putting a stop on digital download sales for an undetermined amount of time to add more servers to catch up with the rapidly rising number of users trying to get in. Here is the exact statement:
“Important Notice About FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn - Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play. As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A REALM REBORN’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes.” [Source: Gamereasy.com]
While this is frustrating both for current players (the ones that can’t get into the game, anyway) and gamers wanting to purchase the game to try it out, it is also great for the new Final Fantasy MMO. The last version of XIV didn’t fare so well. So for this game to have such massive success early on is great. This will more than likely result in guaranteed new content for A Realm Reborn and regular updates.
For now, if you aren’t able to login to the game be sure to visit the official FFXIV support page where you can find answers to the most commonly asked questions and get some assistance with your troubles.

No, in FFXIV, you are going to sleep, going to work, doing whatever it is you do for the entire day, while leaving your character inside the server taking up a position. This is a problem because: 1. The servers are population locked and there isn't a que, nor are there afk timers. 2. Therefore any player in there is taking a spot in the population list 1/100000 3. Then the percent of people afk but not playing therefore lock out the people who would naturally get in the game due to them leaving.(logging off). 4. So naturally people adapt and just leave there characters there until they get back. Therefore making the percentage of AFK people grow, locking more and more of the natural player percentage out while the server becomes full of more and more afk players. It will essentially scar or at least annoy this game'
